Meet the Founders
REV. DR. SUN MYUNG MOON and DR. HAK JA HAN MOON
The heart of the movement Rev. and Dr. Moon founded is the recreation of God's ideal family. Beginning from their own Marriage Blessing in 1960, Father and Mother Moon are calling men and women to transcend race and religion, rebuilding the family as the vessel of true lasting love, and the cornerstone of world peace through the Marriage Blessing.
This tradition of God-centered marriage provides a powerful model for building a family of true love, to establish a foundation for lasting peace. Family members affectionately refer to the Rev. and Dr. Moon as True Parents for taking on the role of parents to all of humankind.
Meet Our Senior Pastor
Rev. Kazuo Takami was born in 1970 in Japan, and joined the Unification Church in 1989 through the collegiate youth branch of the Unification Church in Osaka. Rev. Takami received a degree in mechanical engineering from Osaka University, but he followed God's calling and studied theology at the Unification Theological Seminary in New York, USA from 1996 to 2000. He graduated cum laud with a master of Religious Education degree. He became the Assistant State Director of Illinois and later State Pastor and worked to expand the Chicago’s minister outreach foundation. In 2015, he received a special mission to Hawaii and was appointed as Hawaii District Pastor. In October 2020, God called him back to the Midwest. Since then to present, he has served as Midwest Senior Pastor, overseeing 13 Midwestern states.
In 1992, he and his wife Hiromi attended the International Marriage Blessing Ceremony at the Seoul Olympic Stadium, officiated by Rev. Dr. Sun Myung Moon and Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, with 30,000 other couples; they have two sons and three daughters.
